Philosophy in Treatment

Go to Home Page

--"I believe that health is defined as a balance of mind, body and spirit. When one aspect is out of balance, the others are affected. My approach to NON-emergency healthcare is also simple, start with the least invasive therapies and work up. Massage and its related therapies are often enough to treat and prevent non-life threatening conditions in the first place. THEY restore us to balance when the SCALES tip too far IN ONE DIRECTION, resulting in WHAT WE EXPERIENCE AS stress, illness and pain."
-John Porter; Milwaukee Journal  Nov. 2009

--My methods vary based upon my client’s conditions, and even those may change for the same client on a visit-by-visit basis. One session may focus on relieving stress, and another time, we may need to prepare that same person for an upcoming event or recover from a recent injury. Even pressure may vary based on the client and their needs at the time, ranging from a very subtle touch (as in Cranio-Sacral or Japanese Acupressure) to Deep-tissue manipulation to correct fascial restrictions such as thickening, shortening, scar tissue, etc.
--Decades of experience in the industry have also given me the opportunity to incorporate other modalities into treatment if needed. In addition, I pride myself with keeping up with current medical trends and patterns in both Western and Eastern medicine.
